M1k.tech is a personal tech blog written by a French professional living in Chicago who works in foreign direct investment by day and engages with consumer hardware by night. The site serves as a central hub, with YouTube and X as secondary outlets.

If you are reading this, you probably found me somewhere else first. X, the YouTube channel, a Snapdragon thing, maybe a reply I left under a phone launch that was a little more honest than the brand wanted. So before this turns into another stream of posts, let me stop and say plainly what the new m1k.tech is. The site changed, the name changed, and the way I want to write here changed too.
Short version: this is home base now. Everything else points back here.
Who is actually writing this
I am French. I live in Chicago. By day I work in foreign direct investment, which in plain language means I help companies figure out whether and how to cross the Atlantic and set up shop somewhere new. That job hands me a weird vantage point on tech: I see the money and the business logic up close, the part most gadget coverage never touches. Then I go home and obsess over the actual devices like anyone else who loves this stuff.
That combination is the whole point of this blog, and honestly, it took me too long to admit it. A thousand people can read you a spec sheet. Plenty of smart folks write about the AI industry. But a French guy in the American Midwest, who reads the market through an investment lens by day and buys, mods, prints, and breaks the hardware by night? That overlap is mine. Nobody else is standing exactly here. So I stopped trying to sound like everyone else.
What you are going to get
More hands-on, less recycled. I want to write about things I have actually held and used. Phones, AI PCs, wearables, the Bambu Lab printer that has quietly colonized a corner of my apartment, the occasional EV rabbit hole. If I review something, it is because I lived with it, not because a press release landed in my inbox at 7 am. You can see what that looks like in my full OPPO Find X5 review, written as an ambassador who still called the misses. And when I do not have a device in hand, I will say so rather than fake it.
A few flavors of post will keep showing up. Quick takes on news I actually have an opinion about, warm and fast. Proper deep-dive reviews when something earns the hours, like the Xiaomi 15 Pro with its Snapdragon 8 Elite and Leica optics. Maker logs, where the AI-generated model meets the print bed and something goes wrong and I show you exactly what. And every so often, a piece looking at tech through the Chicago and French lens that I cannot switch off, because watching the US market as a European who lives inside it is a different view. I think it is a useful one.
What you will not get: fake enthusiasm. If a thing is mediocre, I will tell you it is mediocre. No hedging. I have written honest reviews of products from brands I have actual relationships with, from Snapdragon and its Manchester United partnership to the underdog stuff like the Nothing Phone (2), and I am not about to stop, because the second you cannot trust me to call something disappointing, the praise stops meaning anything too. That is the reputation I have on X, and I would rather protect that than protect anyone’s launch day.
About how often I will post, let me be real
I have a demanding day job and a life, so I am not going to promise a post every single day and then ghost you for two weeks. The plan is consistency over heroics. A steady drip of shorter pieces, with the deep reviews and maker projects landing when they are actually ready, not when a calendar guilt-trips them out of me. Busy week, you get less. Something has me excited; you get more. I would rather under-promise and actually show up.
Where else to find me, and what is next
YouTube (youtube.com/@M1k_T3ch) is still where the Snapdragon and Qualcomm video stuff lives. X is where the fast, unfiltered reactions happen (but need to start posting again on it). But this site is where the real writing goes now: the reviews, the longer thoughts, the maker logs, anything that needs more room than a post can give it.
Next up I have a proper deep-dive review in the works on something, plus a couple of Chicago-tech-lens pieces I have wanted to write for a while.
